2014 Chair’s Agenda
Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker was the 2014 Chair of the MGA and his agenda focused on propane, particularly regional supply and delivery infrastructure. This focus comes after an unusually wet fall and cold winter in 2013-2014 which increased propane demands for drying grain and heating homes and businesses throughout the Midwest. By bringing states together for discussions, the region hopes to minimize the potential for future shortfalls.
In carrying out this agenda, the MGA has convened a propane supply chain working group comprised of state government agencies and those in the industry to better enhance consumer awareness and industry preparedness. In addition to a June in-person meeting in Madison, the working group engages in twice-monthly conference calls to enhance regional cooperation. These calls concentrate on individual sectors of the supply and demand chain, including transportation, storage, cross-industry and outreach communications, federal and state assistance programs and data sharing.
