On behalf of my fellow governors, I want to thank you for your attendance and participation at the Midwestern Governors Association Jobs and Energy Forum in Detroit on October 6-7, 2009.
As the 2009 chair of the Midwestern Governors Association, I have set this year’s agenda as Creating Jobs in the New Energy Economy. In order to transform the Midwest from rust to green, this agenda will identify strategies to create thousands of clean energy jobs that will lay the economic foundation for our region’s economic future.
The Forum was a great opportunity to bring together Midwestern leaders of various sectors to discuss new energy economy opportunity for the region. It was also enlightening to hear from different perspectives, including those of foreign countries, who have and are facing similar economic issues as the Midwest. It is reassuring to know that the Midwest is on the right path to diversifying its economy and creating more new energy economy jobs.
The unveiling of the Platform for Creating and Retaining Midwestern Jobs in the New Energy Economy and Midwest Energy Infrastructure Accord provides the Midwest with viable options for us moving forward in the new energy economy.
Thank you again for joining us in Detroit and hope you enjoyed Michigan during your stay.
Sincerely,
Jennifer Granholm
