Washington, D.C. – The Midwestern Governors Association (MGA) announced today that Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker will serve as Chair of the MGA for 2014, and Kansas Governor Sam Brownback will become Vice Chair.
Given the propane supply challenges the Midwest has experienced over the last few months and given the unusually wet fall and cold winter, Governor Walker’s 2014 agenda will focus on strengthening the propane supply chain. Governor Walker hopes to create a propane supply chain working group comprised of states, government agencies and those in the industry to better enhance consumer awareness and industry
preparedness.
“I am honored to become Chair of the MGA as the Midwest is a wonderful place to live, work and raise a family. I look forward to working with my fellow governors and those working in and with the propane industry, in taking steps to help improve propane operations, enhance consumer awareness and ease any future propane supply issues,” said Governor Walker.
Governor Brownback said, “The Midwest is a world-class region and I look forward to working with Governor Walker and all Midwestern governors this year as Vice Chair of the MGA. Our region has so many positive resources, and the more we can highlight and use them to our advantage, the stronger the Midwest will be as a region to attract jobs and grow our economy.”
Governor Walker assumes leadership of the MGA today from Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton. More information on Governor Dayton’s agenda, which focused on regional collaboration on aquatic invasive species, can be found by visiting https://midwesterngovernors.org/chairagenda2013.htm.
