Building Economic and Energy Security in the Heartland:
A Midwestern Delegation to the Gulf Coast to Explore Development of the
Enhanced Oil Recovery Industry

To assist Midwestern governors and state staff in understanding Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) and Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR), the MGA reached out to experts and key stakeholders in the Gulf region to develop a program for Midwesterners to visit and learn about CCS & EOR. The Gulf region was chosen by the MGA because it has the most advanced, long-standing industry in the world focused on CO2-EOR.  The Gulf region also has some of the most developed CO2 capture projects in the world and cooperation between public and private partners to advance CCS & EOR industries in the region.  These unique characteristics provided a compelling landscape for Midwesterners to learn from the real-world experiences of public, private and academic leaders and to see CCS & EOR projects in person.
