Renewing the Midwestern Brand

Midwesterners have long considered the Midwest the best place to get an education, raise a family and grow a business, but collectively need to do more to share the strengths of the region with others. In 2012 the MGA initiated “America’s Smartland” to positively market the region and highlight its opportunities and economic successes.

America's Smartland

The MGA published a series of brochures to help promote a positive Midwestern narrative.

To help share the good news about the region, please visit our social media pages. In addition to encouraging Midwesterners to add their own stories and events, the MGA shares regional successes, Midwestern News, governors’ happenings and MGA activities. Promoting a Positive Midwestern Narrative

As part of his 2012 MGA Chair’s agenda, Iowa Governor Terry Branstad is asked states to renew the Midwestern brand and actively promote a positive Midwestern narrative. Midwesterners have long considered the Midwest the best place to get an education, raise a family and grow a business, but collectively need to do more to share the strengths of the region with others.  The goal of this effort was to create an image of the Midwest that positively market the region and highlights opportunities and economic success.
